Contributed by Rolando Osuna SAT Internacional, S.A. de C.V. was established in 1995 in Mexico by our family and operated only as a custom broker until June 2007 when we incorporated transportation services as a freight forwarder. SAT employs 15 operational staff and 7 in the sales of transportation and customs clearance. SAT is headquartered in Mexico City and operates through the ports of Veracruz, Altamira, Manzanillo and the airport in Mexico City. We also have sales personnel in Monterrey and Guadalajara where we share office space with our sister company Intercom.
The customs broker industry in Mexico has been changing rapidly in the last several years and every day custom brokers are operating more and more like freight forwarders do in Europe, U.S.A., the Far East and some countries in Latin America. We believe that in the very near future clearance of goods will become just like any other service that we have to offer as a freight forwarder.
Being a partner in United Shipping gives SAT Internacional, S.A. de C.V., the advantage of offering services to any destination/origin that our clients request, through a well known network of reliable, efficient and capable companies. This was the main reason for requesting membership in addition to the many other benefits we are already receiving.
However, SAT Internacional, has to establish its own identity not only in our market but also in the many markets that United Shipping represents. Although we are a sister company of Intercom, which has been an active partner of United Shipping for many years and continues to be, SAT Internacional is an independent company that will have to work in building steady and long lasting business relationships with all partners. We only ask for someone to handle our business in a proper manner at the other end; the rest it is our responsibility. We are very confident that in a short period of time, we will be considered a good option for doing business in Mexico for all partners and SAT Internacional will bring additional business in Mexico to the group.
I wish to thank very much Greg Treco for his support, Fred Hall for his wise counsel through this process and the new partners committee for accepting our membership request.
